Porthcurno Telegraph Museum
This is an excerpt from a promotional video made by MediaWestUK for the Porthcurno Undersea Cable Museum.
n 1870, Porthcurno began its life as an important centre of international communications.
It was in 1870 that a chain of telegraph cables linking Porthcurno and India was completed. The original intention had been to lay the cable and land at Falmouth however in the end Porthcurno was chosen as the landing place creating what was to become Britain's first major communications link.

Sennen Cove`s new Tamar Class lifeboat `RNLB City of London III` visits the Capital to thank members of the City of London branch of the RNLI for their efforts in raising money to fund the new lifeboat.
Heligan Gardens
Created the Cornish Tremayne family during the 18th century to 20th century.
The gardens were neglected after the First World War, and only restored in the 1990s, a restoration that was the subject of several popular television programs and books. The gardens host fabulous collection of a series of lakes fed by a ram pump over one hundred years old, highly productive flower and vegetable gardens, an Italian garden, and a stunning wild area filled with primaeval-looking sub-tropical tree ferns called "The Jungle".

Lands End Shipwreck
The 1,846-tonne RMS Mulheim was making passage from Cork to Lubeck, Germany, when she ran aground between Land's End and Sennen at 0500 GMT on Saturday 22nd March 2003
The six-strong Polish crew were airlifted to safety by a rescue helicopter from RNAS Culdrose. They were taken to the Sennen Cove Lifeboat Station, where they were treated for shock.
The RMS Mulheim was loaded with more than 2,200 tonnes of car scrap metal.

Prideaux Place a beautiful Elizabethan manor house overlooks the harbour of Padstow. The filming of Rosamunde Pilcher's 'Coming Home' at Prideaux Place is a great draw for Pilcher fans.
The house itself has been the home of fourteen generations of the family since its completion in 1592.

The Camel Trail
In latter years the railway was used to ship slate and china clay from inland quarries to ships docking in Padstow. Fish ere transported in the opposite direction to London and other markets
The railway lost most of its traffic when both the quarrying and fishing activities stopped or were greatly reduced.
The last passenger train was in 1967, with freight ending in 1983as the cost of investing in a new track was deemed uneconomic.
