Scots Trad Music Awards 2011 nominees Ross Couper and Tom Oakes are a fiddle and guitar duo deeply rooted in the traditions of Scotland and Ireland but with a vital modernity that chronicles their many musical journeys so far. Expect a highly dynamic mixture of power and fragility with a warmth and humour that leaves audiences exhilarated and entertained. Ross’ explosive fiddle playing lies at the heart of some of the biggest acts on the Scottish folk scene including 2009 Scots Folk Award winning (Band of the Year) Bodega and a member of the mighty Peatbog Faeries.

Zip it for Disabled Children in Cornwall

Zip along the UK’s longest zip wire and help support disabled children in Cornwall!

We run a disabled children’s charity project called Cornwall SPACE, which supports disabled children all over the county. The project is currently at threat of closure, and we need to raise money to keep it going. With that in mind, we’re running a sponsored zip wire in aid of Cornwall SPACE.

WHAT: Zip along the UK’s longest zip wire – 490 metres!
WHERE: Liskeard, Cornwall

St Neot Local Produce Market

Local producers come to St Neot Village Hsll once a month to give access to fresh local produce, including vegetables, bread, meat, fish, pasties, cheese, jams and pickles, plants, flowers and gifts. You can sit an have hot drink before you make you journey home, in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Easy access and free parking. The market is usually on the first Saturday of each month - but in January this year it is on the 8th, from 9am to 12 noon in St Neot Village Hall. Any enquiries to Jenny Hart on 01579 320683

Christmas Concert

The Westernairs a local concert wind band of about 30 amateur musicians will play a selection of Christmas concert music and carols at 7.30pm on Saturday 18th December at St Cleer Memorial Hall, Well Lane, St Cleer. Tickets £4.00 at the door or see website for more details. All proceeds to Marie Curie Cancer Care Cornwall.

Sterts Singers - Christmas carols by candlelight

Come and join Sterts Singers and other members of the local community in a candle lit Christmas Celebration at StertsTheatre, in Upton Cross.
Tickets are £5.00 and include a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie. There will also be a Barbecue serving burgers,hot dogs and hot soup and the bar and Café will be be open to keep out the chill.
The event will last one hour and the proceeds are going to Shelterbox, a great locally based charity that has an international impact. Dress up warm, bring your cushions and join us for a magical winter's evening of seasonal entertainment.

Westernairs Concert Band and Tamar Valley Male Voice Choir in Concert

A concert to raise funds for the refurbishment of Liskeard Methodist Church (next to the British Legion). The Westernairs a wind concert band of about 30+ local amateur musicians playing a variety of music followed by the Tamar Valley Male Voice Choir. They will perform in the church starting at 7.30pm on Saturday 20th November. There will be a short break at 8.30pm for refreshments. £5.00 entry - pay at the door.
