A week long festival celebrating the early years of jazz that is unique in Europe. This is a major event in the jazz world.

Special feature this year is the famous Blues Band featuring Paul Jones (of Manfred Mann fame), Rob Townsend, Dave Kelly, Gary Fletcher and Tom McGuiness. Overseas guests feature the charismatic and hugely entertaining pianist and vocalist Jeff Barnhart and the great American trumpeter, Duke Heitger, who makes his first appearance at Bude. Also performing are the Classic Jazz Orchestra from Scotland and the newly formed band Gumbo Jumbo.

The Dance Marquee will attract both dancers and listeners to the workshops and performances.

New for 2011 is the Bude Festival Fringe, organised by the Strand Hotel in Bude, which features blues, bluegrass, comedy, and other related musical events.

A network of 12 indoor venues of various shapes and sizes ensures that the Festival is not at risk from the elements. However, the weather is usually kind and, as usual, street parades will be very popular on the opening day, Saturday 27th August, and Bank Holiday Monday 29th August.

Bude Jazz Festival’s programme for “stroller” sessions runs every lunchtime, afternoon and evening from 12 noon on Saturday 27th August to 11.00 pm on Friday 2nd September. Full Week Stroller tickets are available and they give festival-goers the opportunity to see every musician appearing at the Festival. Also available are Bank Holiday Weekend stroller tickets, Part Week stroller tickets and Single Day stroller tickets
