THINK YOU CAN DRIVE The fourth annual “Think You Can Drive” day organised by The Rotary Club of Truro, hails yet another “Wheelie” exciting day out, with an underlying yet imperative road safety message! Cornwall Council, alongside 999 services will be supporting this event to be held at the Royal Cornwall Showground on 12th September 2010 to offer guidance and road safety advice amidst some fun experiences! You could experience an F1 Simulator, try a shot at driving with DrinkDrug buster goggles, back up a trailer, see a Stinger in action, and test your road knowledge with the experts with various competitions and prizes, including a free skid pan experience and protective bike gear! Bridgestone, in collaboration with Steve Andrews Tyres will be exhibiting their 2003 Formula 1, Schumacher's Ferrari show car, which will be an awesome sight and Truro Alloys will prove that you can add panache to your vehicle! There will be displays by prominent car dealerships and local clubs exhibiting modified and performance fuelled cars. Kernow Kruze Car Club will be demonstrating their prisitine cars with a “Show and Shine” competition and BSM are returning with their ever popular hands-on opportunity offering youngsters the chance to try a go at the wheel on a safe circuit! Plymouth RC Racing cars, a group of radio-controlled car enthusiasts and experts who will also be competing for poll position on their specially built circuit! Nova Tech will be providing a ‘Rolling Road’ which is a machine for testing vehicles for decibel noise, powere output at driving wheels and exhaust emissions and Specsavers will be on hand to advise whether you are visually “fitted up” to be a safe driver! Specsavers Drive Safe campaign intends to increase driver and passenger awareness of the importance of wearing the correct prescription eyewear when driving. The campaign also aims to highlight the dangers of driving with un-corrected sight and encourage people to have more regular eye examinations to ensure that drivers are aware of their correct prescription. Free MOTs will be available for glasses with additional free hearing screening. Did you know that one child is hurt every 16 minutes on UK roads and that 1 in 7 deaths are caused by a drink driver over the limit? How well do you think you can drive? Come and find out and have some fun at the same time. It's a real eye opener and attendance could save yours or someone elses life! Donations may be made on the door with all profits going to Air Ambulance Cornwall and Fleet Charities.
